Our Story

Founded in 2016 in Houston, Texas, Afrirock was built with one powerful purpose: to create a thriving platform where dancers, choreographers, and instructors from all backgrounds, styles, and cultures could unite, create, and grow together. What started as a vision has become a living, breathing community rooted in Afrobeats culture and powered by people who love to move.

Afrirock was born from a simple truth — talented instructors and creatives shouldn’t have to spend their energy on logistics, bookings, and backend operations. They should be free to do what they do best: teach, inspire, and create. So we built the infrastructure, handled the business side, and gave them the platform to thrive. Today, that vision has grown into a movement that reaches schools, festivals, weddings, corporate events, and communities across Houston and beyond.

We deliver authentic, high-energy cultural dance experiences for every occasion. From Afrobeats classes and immersive workshops to wedding performances, birthday experiences, school programs, and cultural festivals — Afrirock blends education, entertainment, and cultural appreciation into every moment. Whatever the event, we show out.

Everything we do is rooted in four core beliefs:

  • Love — We lead with heart in every class, performance, and interaction
  • Health — Dance is movement, and movement is medicine
  • Knowledge — We teach the foundations, the history, and the culture behind every move
  • Culture — We preserve, celebrate, and push Afrobeats forward for generations to come
